October 21st: Conflict Resolution Course for Laity. The Assistant to the Bishop, Dr. Clifton Howard, is coming to the South District, specifically Journey of Faith church in Round Rock, on October 21, 2017 to teach a Conflict Resolution Course for the Laity of the District. This is an excellent course and should be helpful in all phases of our lives. And if you haven’t taken a class from Clifton, you should. October 22nd: Professions of Faith. On October 22nd we will be having a special service oriented around professing our faith. For many of us, our initiation into our faith consisted exclusively of an infant baptism we don’t even remember. Some of us participated in Confirmation as youth, but others did not. And of those who were confirmed, a lot just went through the motions. Some of us have been attending this church for years without joining; without having ever committed ourselves—loud and proud—to Jesus Christ and to this congregation. If you are one of those people, here is your chance. On October 22nd you will have the chance to profess your faith in front of God and everyone. Don’t miss this powerful opportunity to share and to affirm your faith. Contact Pastor Tommy at email@example.com if you are interested.
October 22nd: Leadership meeting. We will be meeting after church to develop a budget and set priorities for 2018.
November 5th: We will begin a new 3-week sermon series entitled “The Joy of Generosity.” Jesus came to set us free from slavery to the world; to reconnect us to God. And one of his main messages was that when we put God first, the things of this world will hold us less tightly—and vice versa. God’s joy is to be found in giving. So we will explore what that means and how that works. We look forward with joyful expectation to you joining us.
November 5th: Join us for our monthly potluck! Plenty of great food and fellowship for everyone.
November 12th: Charge Conference. Charge Conference is basically a meeting of the congregation at which the congregation reports on its ministry efforts over the prior year and officially adopts its ministry plan for the coming year. This year, all of the churches in the South District of the Central Texas Conference will meet together at Salado UMC at 6:00 pm for their Charge Conference.
December 3rd: Advent starts!
