Getting & Staying Holy Engaged

Our Normal Worship Service is Every Sunday at 10:30 am

All are Welcome!

Here’s a basic question that I think all of us should ask ourselves. It is especially appropriate during this season of Lent, as we take 6 weeks to breath, take a step back, and look at our lives in faith. And that question is this: are you satisfied? Are you satisfied with your life? Is it everything you want it to be? Is it filled with joy and hope and love? Is it free of worry and fear? Are you satisfied?
I think a lot of us would answer the question sort of like this: Well, I don’t know about hope and joy and love, but I’m getting by about as well as can be expected. Nothing really bad happened to me so far this week (fingers crossed).” And what I would like to suggest is that this isn’t living, this is existing. Most of us just exist. We’re just trying to make it from day to day while minimizing the disasters. But this is not what we were built for.
We were created for one purpose: to love God and be loved by God. To live in a relationship of divine love with God. And to the extent we can do that, we are able to really live, not just exist. We are able to live lives of hope and joy and peace and love, lives where we are not afraid of our shadows or what’s going to happen tomorrow. This is the beginning of eternal life, right now in this life.
But like all relationships, the one with God takes some work. We call that work spiritual practices; practices like prayer, meditation, study, worship, giving, and service. It may be possible to enjoy the joy, hope, love, and peace of a deep and meaningful relationship with God without participating in spiritual practices, but I’ve never heard of it happening.         Bottom line, to experience the sort of life we were created to live—the sort of life God wants us to live—we MUST engage in some of these spiritual practices. And, as we go deeper in our relationship, all of them. This is why we offer the following opportunities. Please take advantage of them.

Prayer Lunch

Need Prayer? Join us Tuesdays at noon in the fellowship hall as we lift up one another, our congregation, our community, and our world. We would love for you to join us.

Life Groups

All of us need to grow in our faith. Life groups are a proven way to do that. They consist of 5-10 people who meet together once a week to offer encouragement and accountability as we seek to live the way Christ taught us to live. If you’re not completely satisfied with your walk with God, you need to check this out. We have several groups meeting now and you will be welcome. If you’re interested in participating in an existing group or creating a new one, contact Pastor Tommy at (512) 826-6064 or

Sunday School

Come be a part of our adult Sunday School class, which meets at 9:00 on Sunday mornings. The class is currently working its way through the entire bible, one chapter at a time. No prior participation necessary. All are welcome!

Bible Study

Mark your calendar for Mondays at 7:00 (NOTE THE NEW TIME). We will be launching our study of the “I am” sayings of John’s Gospel that will run parallel with our upcoming “I Am” sermon series. Get More detail, more insight, and some fresh perspectives to flesh out Sunday’s sermon. As Christians, we claim to follow Christ.

These I Am” statements by Jesus are probably the best explanation we’ve got as to who it is we’re following. So we look forward to seeing you there.
Also, join us Sundays at 9:00 as we study Paul’s letter to the Romans. This letter provides the most complete and detailed explanation of St. Paul’s understanding of Faith, Jesus, salvation, and eternal life. Martin Luther’s study of this letter ignited the Protestant Reformation and it was at a study of this letter that John Wesley’s heart was strangely warmed.” The theology of Romans is a core part of our identity as Christians. So please join us over the next several weeks, starting at 9:00, as we study this key book of the New Testament.
